Fingerprinting Questions and Answers

Important: Bring Required Paperwork

Most applicants must bring the official paperwork from the requesting board, employer, or agency. A code alone is usually not enough. The paperwork may include NRS, ORI, account, authorization, application, or confirmation information.

A-1 Fingerprinting may need to sign or stamp the paperwork and provide a TCN number after fingerprinting. Applicants without required paperwork may not be fingerprinted.

Cannabis Agent Work Card: What should I bring?

Bring a government-issued photo ID, the Cannabis Agent Fingerprint Submission Form, payment by cash or card, and make sure your application has been completed through Accela. Applicants without the required paperwork cannot be fingerprinted.

Gaming Work Card: What should I bring?

Bring a government-issued photo ID, the Fingerprint Authorization Form, payment by cash or card, and make sure your gaming registration is completed before fingerprinting. Applicants without the required paperwork cannot be fingerprinted.

Division of Insurance: What should I bring?

Bring a government-issued photo ID, the Nevada Division of Insurance Fingerprint Authorization Form with Sircon Confirmation ID or NIPR Transaction number on the form, and payment by cash or card. Applicants without the required paperwork cannot be fingerprinted.

PILB: What should I bring?

Bring a government-issued photo ID and payment by cash or card. If your application was completed online, bring your email online payment confirmation. If your application was completed in person, bring the PILB form. Applicants who cannot provide the confirmation or PILB form cannot be fingerprinted.

Department of Education: What should I bring?

Bring a government-issued photo ID, payment by cash or card, and make sure you have submitted your application through OPAL. You will need the last four digits of your Social Security number. You do not need to bring your Social Security card.

1. What do I need to bring for fingerprinting?

Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and any paperwork, ORI number, agency instructions, employer forms, or fingerprint cards provided by the requesting agency.

2. What is an ORI number?

An ORI number identifies the agency or organization requesting your fingerprints. If your agency requires an ORI number, bring the exact instructions they gave you.

3. What is the difference between Live Scan and FD-258 ink cards?

Live Scan captures fingerprints electronically for agencies that accept digital submission. FD-258 ink cards are physical fingerprint cards used when an agency requires hard-copy fingerprints or mail-in submission.

4. Do you offer mobile fingerprinting?

Yes. Mobile fingerprinting is available by prior appointment on weekdays only throughout Las Vegas and Clark County for eligible individuals, groups, businesses, and organizations.

5. Do I need an appointment?

For regular office visits, call ahead if you want to confirm timing and requirements. Mobile fingerprinting must be scheduled by prior appointment.

6. What license types do you serve?

A-1 Fingerprinting supports many licensing, employment, background check, and agency submission needs, including healthcare, nursing, real estate, cannabis, gaming, security, education, childcare, contractors, and other professional requirements.

7. Do you provide passport photos?

Yes. Passport photo services are available and can be completed during your visit.

8. What are your business hours?

Monday through Friday: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Weekends are by appointment only. Mobile fingerprinting is available by prior appointment on weekdays only.

9. How much does fingerprinting cost?

FBI fingerprinting is $75 with DPS fees included. State fingerprint submission is $25. FD-258 ink fingerprint cards start at $30, with additional copies at $10 each. Mobile fingerprinting includes a trip fee plus standard service charges. Visit the pricing page for the current service list.

10. Are government or agency fees included?

Government, agency, background check, or licensing fees may be separate from A-1 Fingerprinting service charges. Your requesting agency can confirm any agency-specific fees.

11. Can I bring my own fingerprint cards?

Yes. If your agency provided fingerprint cards, bring them with you. FD-258 cards may also be available if you need them.

12. What if I am not sure which fingerprinting service I need?

Bring the instructions from your agency, employer, or licensing board. You can also call A-1 Fingerprinting before visiting to confirm whether Live Scan, FD-258 cards, or another service is likely needed.

13. Do you serve businesses and groups?

Yes. Mobile fingerprinting can support eligible businesses, schools, healthcare groups, licensing groups, and organizations by prior appointment. Minimum group size may apply.
